We enjoy growing vegetables, fruit and flowers almost as much as we love cooking them. In fact, Alexandra’s Kitchen started out using produce from our own garden. And while we’ve expanded, we’re proud that many of our Tea Barn dishes and ready meals still incorporate herbs and edible flowers we’ve grown ourselves.
We believe in supporting local farmers, growers and food producers wherever possible. Lots of our fruit and veg comes from our neighbours Roger and Alison at Durleighmarsh Farm Shop, and the farm’s PYO fields. Welfare is important to us, too, so we buy lamb that’s been grass-reared on the South Downs, beef from local butchers and the National Trust estate at Woolbeding, and poultry from free-range farms. We also do our bit for farmers further afield by choosing Fair Trade.
